VISITING THE WEBSITE AND SERVER LOG FILES
When the website is visited, the web server stores technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, referrer and browser identification. They serve the secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest). They are not combined with other data. The log files are deleted after 14 days.
HOSTING
The website is hosted by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg, in a data center in Frankfurt am Main; processing is based on a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Access by the US parent company cannot be ruled out. For such a transfer we rely on the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) and, in addition, on the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
NO COOKIES, NO THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking services. Fonts, images, videos and all other content are loaded from this server, not from third parties. When the language is switched, the browser keeps the reading position briefly in session storage and deletes it when the page loads (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG); no personal data are stored.
EXTERNAL LINKS
Links to services of other providers, such as LinkedIn, transfer data only when you follow them; the privacy notice of that provider then applies.
CONTACTING US
If you contact us, we process your details to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where a contract or its preparation is concerned, otherwise point (f)). E-mails are processed by Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Dublin) under a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Access by the US parent company cannot be ruled out. For such a transfer we rely on the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, in addition, on the EU standard contractual clauses. The data are deleted once the request has been dealt with; business correspondence is kept for the statutory retention periods: commercial letters six years, accounting vouchers eight years (Section 257 HGB, Section 147 AO).
AUTOMATED DECISIONS
No automated decision-making, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR), takes place.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 15 to 20 GDPR). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the competent authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. For persons in Switzerland, the rights under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) apply accordingly.
RIGHT TO OBJECT (ART. 21 GDPR)
Where we process data on the basis of a legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. The objection may be made informally to the e-mail address given above.
